Bundoran Surf Academy

Bundoran Surf Academy is for intermediate level and above surfers who are surfing on a regular basis. Most of the courses will be for intermediates however we will also have higher level courses. The minimum required level of ability is to be able to catch a green wave on a hardboard, have a reasonable pop-up, and be able to paddle out back most of the time.

In the Surf Academy courses we focus on more intermediate surfing techniques such as effective paddling, wave knowledge and selection, take off and bottom turning, trimming and duck diving. The courses also focus on surfing etiquette. We use video analysis to correct faults when appropriate.

The Surf Academy is ideal for people who have their own boards, but for those that don’t we have plenty of boards to choose from so just let us know what you need. It is also an opportunity to try our test drive boards. We don’t provide transport for the Surf Academy lessons so we will meet you at the beach at the agreed time. We can bring along boards and wetsuits (at no extra charge) if you need them and you can come to the surf school afterwards for hot showers and a cuppa.

Bundoran Surf Academy Saturday lesson

• The lessons run at 9.00am every Saturday (times may be subject to change closer to the time depending on conditions).
• You can bring along your own board or try out one of the boards in our test drive centre.
• If you are thinking of changing boards you can try one of ours and get advice from the instructor on what might suit you.
• A lesson costs €40pp with a maximum of 6 in a group. We can do other times especially if you have a group of 4-6 people.
• We don’t provide transport to and from the beach but we will meet you at the best beach on the morning and we can bring extra boards and wetsuits if you need them.
• You can use the changing facilities and showers in the surf school afterwards.

Bundoran Surf Academy full day course

• The full day course is suitable for anyone who would like to really have an intensive day of coaching in and out of the water.
• If you have one technique you would like to work on or maybe you need some general coaching, then a full-on day might be the answer.
• The format of the day is an intensive 2 hour surf lesson with your instructor in the morning followed by a break for lunch. In the afternoon the instructor will use video analysis so you can see your strenghts and weaknesses in the playback session.
• Price is €75pp with a maximum of 6 in a group. We can do other dates if you have a group of 4-6 people.
• We don’t provide transport to and from the beach but we will meet you at the best beach on the morning and we can bring extra boards and wetsuits if you need them (no extra charge).
• You can use the changing and shower facilities in the surf school.

Full day Bundoran Surf Academy dates are flexible so just let us know the date that suits you and we can run a course. We just need a minimum of 2 people to run a course.

Bundoran Surf Academy weekend course
An intensive weekend course that is suitable for people with their own boards who have been surfing at least 6 months. You should be able to catch waves regularly, have a decent pop-up, be able to get out back and be willing to paddle into waves the instructor tells you to. The format of the weekend is 3 surf sessions, 1 video analysis session and one session on surf and weather forecasting. Price is €120pp transport not included. We have plenty of boards and wetuits you can use (no extra charge) if necessary.
